Firehouse Subs Named as a Top Quick Service Restaurant Chain by Sandelman & Associates

JACKSONVILLE, FLA., Feb. 9, 2009 – Firehouse Subs®, one of the nation’s fastest-growing sandwich chains, received Top 10 honors for overall customer satisfaction according to the 2008 Sandelman & Associates’ Quick-Track® study. This is the fourth time in five years that Firehouse Subs has placed in the Top 10.

According to the study, Firehouse Subs placed eighth out of 141 chains on overall customer satisfaction “excellent rating.” In addition, Firehouse Subs placed in the Top 3 on four characteristics: taste or flavor of the food, quality of the ingredients, appeal to kids and temperature of the food.

Firehouse Subs is known for serving large portions of premium meats and cheeses, “steamed” hot and placed atop fresh produce on a toasted sub roll. Using a steamer to heat the meat and cheese locks in moisture, hot temperature and makes the flavors burst. Keeping with the firehouse theme, subs like the Hook & Ladder® and New York Steamer® are both named after fire trucks. The family-friendly dining atmosphere features Dalmatian-spotted tables, a hand-painted mural and a free Fire Hat that accompanies kids’ meals.

"Since day one, customer service has been a founding ingredient of our brand. It’s as essential as the subs themselves,” said Firehouse Subs co-founder Robin Sorensen. “We’re honored to be recognized in the Quick-Track study, and we thank Sandelman & Associates for valuing customer service ratings in the foodservice industry.”

“Clearly fast-food users are very satisfied with the overall dining experience,” says Bob Sandelman, CEO and founder of Sandelman & Associates. “Our Awards of Excellence winners, many of whom are smaller, regional brands, are raising the bar for the fast-food giants. And this customer satisfaction improvement is just what the economy ordered.”

The awards are based on the quarterly syndicated Quick-Track® research program conducted by Sandelman & Associates, a San Clemente, Calif.-based market research firm that tracks consumer trends for the restaurant industry. The Quick-Track Awards of Excellence are based on ratings provided by the study’s respondents on fast-food chains they visited in the past three months. In all, Quick-Track surveyed more than 93,800 quick-service restaurant users in 75 U.S. markets during 2008.
